FAQs…about TM

How do I apply? top
Every person who wishes to register with our agency is required to send a copy of their CV in French and English together with a covering letter in the language that is not their mother tongue. This can be sent to us via e-mail, post or fax. It is also possible to call in and leave your CV with us but please respect our "by appointment only" policy. Once you have done this, you will be contacted by us as soon as possible - everybody receives a reply whether positive OR negative.

What happens once I come into the TM offices? top
When you come in, you will have to do some tests for 30 minutes. These are hand-written in English and French and test your grammar and spelling. More junior candidates are also required to do a typing test. Once these are completed, you will have an interview with one of the consultants which should last approximately 45 minutes. After this, the other consultants will come in and meet you briefly. This gives you an even better chance of finding a job as you will have several consultants working for you and proposing you different positions.

What type of companies does TM work with? top
We work with a large number of international companies from a wide selection of different fields ranging from banks to advertising agencies to luxury goods providers. Many of these clients have been working with us for several years and come back time and again to use our services.

What type of positions does TM have to offer? top
We have a wide range of opportunities to offer starting with basic secretarial positions. These would be ideal for junior candidates eager to gain some experience. After that, we have a variety of secretarial and top-level PA positions within large international firms with subsidiaries worldwide. Salaries vary depending on work experience, language skills and sector. Apart from your qualifications and experience, we also take your personality into consideration when finding you a suitable position.

Does my English/French have to be fluent to be able to apply? top
We at TM pride ourselves on the fact that we are working within a truly bilingual market. Therefore, every candidate that sends in a CV which looks promising, has to pass an initial telephone interview where he/she will have a conversation in English/French with a member of the team. The aim of this is to test language skills to ensure we maintain the high standard we have among the candidates who are on our books today.

How much will it cost for me to register with TM ? top
The service provided by TM is absolutely free to all candidates including those whom we place.

Will the interview be in English or French? top
Your interview will take place in the language that is not your mother tongue. Sometimes it is half in English and half in French.

FAQs…during an interview with a client

Tell me a little bit about yourself. top
Used quite commonly at the beginning of an interview, this is usually a question aimed at getting you to talk and helping you feel at ease. Just relax and give them a brief outline of your career history - keep it short but interesting.

What are your weaknesses? top
A very important skill in the work place is self-criticism and being able to recognise your weaknesses. Don t say "none" as no one is perfect! On the other hand don t be too hard on yourself. Just try and be honest but professional at the same time.

What are your strengths? top

Don t list too many, but just pick a few and try to expand on them as much as possible by giving lively examples. Before the interview try and think objectively about what you are good at and what you enjoy.

Do you have any questions? top
This question normally comes at the end of the interview and is a chance for you to clear up any queries you may have. Whatever you do, avoid saying "no" as this gives the impression that you are uninterested and not really motivated about the position. During the interview there may have been something that the interviewer did not explain properly or that you did not understand. Make a note of it and then ask at the end. This shows you have been concentrating all the way through.

Why would our company benefit from hiring you? top
This can be answered in a similar way to the strengths question. Try and pick a few skills that you can explain fully with examples and avoid waffling on! It is also a good idea to pick out certain characteristics of your personality that could make you more employable. Try and be honest but objective at the same time.

…and finally
Make sure that you keep smiling right until the end. Shake the interviewer s hand, express your thanks and say you are looking forward to hearing from them.
